Boho Style v.s. SoHo Style: Whats the Difference?

Updated: May 21, 2020

Yes, Jaden Smith please take me to the beautiful SoHo House in New York City! Or maybe we can head down to the lower Manhattan to catch that SoHo vibe style. Boho v.s. SoHo interiors, whats the difference? When I think Boho Style I think of green leaf floral pots, with hanging chairs, wooden baskets and different pattern rugs, along with colorful pillows. In all truth I think of "Freedom". Freedom to create a relaxing, meditation, and essence of space with the design thinking outside the box. When I think of SoHo Style I think of exotic, hard- to-fine, limited edition, antique furnished items that come together to create an atmosphere of antique meet modern style. These two distinctive styles have been in the trend of interior design influence as infused and secretive as the society that has invented it.

Lets talk Boho Style first, whenever I scroll through Instagram pictures, or I google Boho Style pictures I feel like i'm looking at an Arizona/Mexican style restaurant with hippie patterns and vibrant colors. Bring on the cactus juice! Throw me a Moroccan design fringe rug with a wood weave chair with a tribal print bench. Originating from ninth century France during the gypsy era where artist were searching for the safe heaven, the idea of 'bohemianism' was born. Being free spirited and expression of colors and designs that don't necessarily coexist but makes enough sense its....Nirvana?

Then there's SoHo Style, a more exclusive and elegant side meets modern posh society. I'm talking exotic chandeliers meets antique plush velvet love seat sofa. The term "Soho" refers to the area being "South of Houston Street." Originating as far as 1973 and expanding in 2010 the district is destined in the Lower part of Manhattan. Being elegant and exclusive is the definition of every well known lasting artist that has graced the halls of the famous SoHo House in New York. This style is also very minimal in a sense less is more and coordination is key. But don't forget a hint of attitude that always works.

No matter what style you choose you can't go wrong. If running in the beach water with your top off is your freedom spirit calling the Boho style, go for it. Or if classy and and artistic is your flow then

So-Ho (see what I did there) ,yourself into that velvet forest green accent chair. These styles are very inner-changeable and stem from different origins as long you incorporate that inner style of your own these styles are limitless.
